Dr Woeller, given your explanation about the pregnenolone steal no longer being an accurate depiction of what is happening in prolonged stress,
and given the huge push in anti-aging medicine to use DHEA and pregnenolone for an aging population, under what conditions would you see a legit reason for pregnenolone supplementation?
    any contraindications?

Your DHEA protocol presented in the course case study uses smaller doses of liquid drops more often during the day. Is there a strong advantage to this vs capsules ?

      Lynn,
I feel pregnenolone is worthwhile in most cases of adrenal dysfunction. It is supportive to the adrenal hormone system. There are contraindications in some cases:

“Pregnenolone (and DHEA too) should be avoided by children (less than 18 years old), pregnant women and nursing mothers. Pregnenolone is contraindicated in those with prostate, breast and/or uterine cancer.”

The problem with hormone dosing recommendations coming from various sources is the call for higher and higher dosages. This certainly could be an issue for some people.

DHEA can trigger reactions in some people, e.g. anxiety, acne, facial hair. Therefore, we tend to be conservation in dosing recommendations. The sublingual drops of DHEA have very good, almost immediate absorption. Oral is okay too, but lower absorption capacity compared to sublingual drops.

      I hope this helps.

      Dr. Woeller
